Full-time fixed-term for 12 months

Diversity is as crucial for design as it is for Winchester’s ambition to be the UK’s premier art school. Part of the University of Southampton, a founding member of the prestigious Russell Research-led Group of Universities, we are restructuring to accelerate the pace of change. So it’s an exciting time to join us. Not only are we aiming high, but we are also broadening our horizons. It will make us the inclusive institution, employer and educator we need to be as we continue to evolve.
We are currently looking for a Junior Graphic Designer in our in-house design studio at the Winchester School of Art. The studio has become an essential resource and part of the School’s narrative in the production of our marketing and design material, from flyers to exhibition identities. In addition, we want the Studio to contribute to a more research-oriented approach and produce designed results at the school’s request through its research centers, creative labs and other research-related groups. You will need to demonstrate a good understanding of layout, typography, printing and digital production techniques. The studio will provide an industry-related experience to the school’s undergraduates through a mix of internal and external projects in contact with clients. You will have excellent communication and teamwork skills and have the ability to support a variety of design-related projects for the school as well as for external clients as required.
You will have a degree related to graphic design, a portfolio of relevant design results, layout and typography experience, and an understanding of print and digital production techniques.
You will join a small, highly motivated team with significant support opportunities for personal development.
This position is based on a 12-month full-time CDD. This position is intended to give you valuable experience, develop your personal skills in a design environment, provide guidance and mentorship before starting your career in marketing or a related field elsewhere and / or to help improve your CV. Unfortunately, this is not a training contract and there is no prospect of a CDI at the end of the Internship.
